A Digital Media Company in South-South Nigeria is recruiting to fill the following positions:

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

Responsibilities: The Editor-in-Chief will be primarily responsible for planning and managing all day-to-day operations of the website; approve assignments for writers and editors, and implement best practices, workflows, tools, and templates to maximize efficiency.

Terms: The ideal candidate should have exceptional writing and editing ability and a working knowledge of online platforms like WordPress and search engine optimization (SEO) concepts. The candidate must possess exceptional communication, presentation and leadership abilities in planning and coordinating people and operations, as well as excellent organizational skills. Applicants must be proficient in digital journalism.

Education and experience: Must have at least a first degree from a recognized university, with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience and must have worked in a similar role.

EDITOR

Responsibilities: The Publisher will be responsible for producing the content of the site according to the editorial policy and the editorial specifications. He or she must edit, verify and select the stories to be published and also generate headline ideas in alignment with the preferences of the target audience.

Terms: The ideal candidate should have previous writing and proofreading experience and proven experience in a related role. He or she must have a good eye for detail and demonstrate excellent leadership skills. Candidates must be versatile in digital journalism.

Education and experience: The ideal candidate should have a good first degree from a recognized university with at least 8 years of post-qualification experience and proven experience as an online news editor or associate editor.

ASSOCIATE EDITOR

Responsibilities: The Associate Editor will be responsible for managing editorial content, editing articles, checking facts and being involved in decisions about layout, design and tone. The deputy editor should be able to replace the editor if necessary.

WEB DEVELOPER

Responsibilities: The web developer will build and test an aesthetic, functional and user-friendly website. Serves as the primary contact for all aspects of the organization’s website(s), will develop and maintain Internet and intranet portals, forms and structures as required by the organization. , encourages and facilitates consistent, creative and unified web design across the organization’s web properties, collects and analyzes web analytics and similar data; identifies opportunities for improving SEO, time on site, web traffic and other relevant metrics and keeps knowledge up to date on best practices and emerging developments in web design, web development and technology.
