New pre-registration rewards revealed for Harry Potter: Magic Awakened

Today, Warner Bros. Games and NetEase Inc. unveiled new pre-registration rewards for the MMO Harry Potter: Magic Awakens, coming in 2022.

To celebrate the release of Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secretsplayers can also pre-register to receive an exclusive in-game card pack including Beasts of the film once the game is released. In Harry Potter: Magic Awakensplayers will learn spells and charms that can be cast in duels and battles with monsters.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakens is inspired by the Baby Manticores introduced in the movie, and the in-game Baby Manticore summon card is much more powerful when the two are put together. According to the developers, witches and wizards who encounter a baby Manticore may find themselves overwhelmed by an entire aggressive swarm. The Niffler, a magical beast with fluffy fur, helps witches and wizards restore their magic points by searching for treasure in the game with its long snout.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakens is set to launch globally later this year for iOS and Android. It will be the latest title from Portkey Games, the label dedicated to creating wizarding-inspired mobile and video game experiences that put players at the center of their own adventure. Some other features include collecting over 80 Spell Cards and exploring Hogwarts with your broomstick. Players can also duel 1v1 and 2v2. Players are encouraged to build their deck and bring companions before entering Dueling Club.

As for the movie, Dumbledore’s secrets received mixed to average reviews according to Metacritic scoring a 47 on the site. CNN and the Los Angeles Times both gave it negative reviews, with CNN specifically saying they wanted the film to be made into a television series instead of a movie. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore, out April 15, is the 2016 sequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The strategy game is free to play on mobile, PC and Mac, but it doesn’t have a set release date at the time of writing.
